Tree Board to hold Open House for Village Tree Inventory Report
The Village of Perry Tree Board will host an open house on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 7 p.m. to present the findings of an inventory of street and park trees.
The inventory, conducted this summer by a certified arborist, is the first task of a Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Urban Forestry Grant. A management plan is the second task provided by the grant.
Tree Board members will present key findings of the inventory, including the number of trees and tree planting spaces, species breakdown, disease threats and tree condition. Importantly, the inventory highlights the many benefits of trees to the Perry community and initial steps to care for the village’s trees.
Residents' questions about and suggestions for the village’s “urban forest” are an important part of the grant and the tree board’s efforts.
