Village approves FRESH START 2020 loan program to assist small businesses.
April 29, 2020
The Village Board of Trustees met on April 27, 2020 to approve a 0% interest loan program to assist small businesses dealing with the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic.
In light of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on businesses around the world, the Village of Perry is making funds available to small businesses located in the Village of Perry through an interest free loan program. Businesses may apply for up to $4,800 that can be paid back over a 48 month period. Funds for this program come from a dedicated loan fund that was provided through a 1980s Federal grant program that has since been repaid; no local tax dollars are used for the program. Loans will be available to assist small businesses in payroll support, rent assistance, payment of utilities, employee health care, and accounts payable assistance. While there are several federal and state programs, funds for these were quickly committed and many of the smallest and most vulnerable of our businesses did not have an opportunity to apply for either the EIDL or PPP programs. The goal is to help these local businesses cover expenses and position themselves for reopening in the near future.
The Village invites businesses to review the FRESH START 2020 program and applications through the following links. The first submission due date is May 14th at 9:00 AM. Applications can be emailed to email@example.com or sent to the Village Hall at 46 North Main Street, Perry, NY 14530. Questions on the program can also be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
