Village Beach Improvement Project
The Village of Perry is pursuing an improvement project to the Village Beach Park. This 1.13 acre parcel is the only free-to-the-public access points to Silver Lake. Originally purchased by the Perry Rotary Club and gifted to the Village, a wide range of activities have been hosted from this site. Currently, two significant events play a key role at the Village Beach. First, this park serves as a central viewing spot for the Ring of Fire activities hosted on Silver Lake every 3rd of July. The Village Beach sees bustling activity as the community gathers to see the flares light the lake and then fireworks to finish the evening. The second event is the Shake on the Lake performances. Originating right here on Silver Lake, these performances of Shakespeare's plays have grown to encompass many sites along the Finger Lakes region and continues to be a crowd pleaser for young and old. These events, along with the normal recreation activities that occur here, highlight the treasure this park is.
The improvement project aims to refresh aging infrastructure while developing new features for continued resident enjoyment of the park. Initial funding has been provided through Senator Gallivan, the Perry Rotary Club, the Village of Perry, and other generous organizations. Additional potential funding is anticipated through a Environmental Protection Fund grant that will be anounced in December 2018. If the grant is successful, the Village anticipates the project will be a $850,000 investment for the community.
SWBR has been hired for architectural and engineering design services. Their first step is to develop a master plan with the assistance of a steering committee with community representation along with direct input from the community. To do so, a web-based survey is available to gather information. All interested parties are invited to participate by going to the following link:
