Departments

Fire

Service is provided by volunteer firefighters, through the Perry Fire Department.

Police

The Village of Perry has its own Police Department, which is charged with responsibilities for public safety and enforcement of traffic laws.

Department of Public Works

Have a maintenance or non-emergency issue to report? Use SeeClickFix.com to report it or call Village Hall during business hours. After hours, please contact the Perry Police at 585-237-5445.

The Village DPW collects yard materials on a monthly basis, during the first week of the month, from May through October. Please place organic or garden materials, such as weeds, in biodegradable lawn bags. Tree limbs and brush should be cut in 5 foot or shorter sections. Grass clippings will NOT be picked up.

Leaves may be left in piles at the curb for bulk pickup in the fall.

Televisions, computer monitors, and laptops may not be sent to landfills and will not be picked up via regular service. For more information on area waste and recycling programs, contact the GLOW Region Solid Waste Management Committee or visit ewaste.com.

Snow Removal

The Village DPW plows village streets and public walkways as needed. Salt is applied to streets and roadways as a means of providing assistance to drivers in winter conditions when appropriate. Please be advised that salt application does not eliminate the hazards of driving on surfaces impacted by winter weather and always exercise caution when driving.

Parking is prohibited on village streets from November 1st through May 1st between 2:00am and 6:00am to facilitate snow removal and seasonal maintenance work.

Property owners are responsible for clearing their property (driveways, sidewalks). Please do not leave snow on village streets or block sidewalks when removing snow. Cooperation and assistance are greatly appreciated.

Recycling & Trash Collection

Recycling and trash collection is administered through Wyoming County and provided once per week by Waste Management. It is paid for through town and county taxes, and is a county program. Trash is collected weekly and recycling is collected every other week. Please see calendar for collection schedule. Trash and recycling containers should be placed between the sidewalk and street before 6:00 AM on the day of pickup. Do not place containers out before 6:00 PM on the night before pickup.

Residents may call Waste Management directly at 1-800-333-6590 or the Wyoming County Planning Department (the county agency in charge of the program) at 585-786-8820.

If the collection day falls on or follows the following holidays during that week – New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas – collection will be one day later.

Water & Sewer

The water source for the village is Silver Lake. In 2016, the Village was honored to be recognized for excellence in water quality and taste. Additional information on water and sewer services, including rates, is available in the Water & Sewer section.

Trees

The Department of Public Works and the Tree Board work in partnership on matters pertaining to trees in the Village of Perry.
