COVID-19 Impacts on Summer 2020

With the continuing struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, several traditional summer activities are being modified or cancelled. Here's a short breakdown from the Village's perspective.
-
Memorial Day Parade - No parade will be held this year. Several small memorial ceremonies will be conducted at individual cemeteries around the Village but none of them are set to be public engagements.
-
YMCA Summer Recreation Programs - The Day Camp program will be held as a vital assistance to working parents. The location will be changing from the Village Park to Camp Hough to more easily accommodate social distancing in smaller groups with facilities that will support that separation. More information will be made available by the first of June. Tennis, soccer, and archery are still being considered based on restriction updates.
-
Village Park Facilities - Park restrooms, drinking fountains, splash pad and basketball courts will reopen as part of Phase 4 of the NY Forward initiative. We are anticipating that will occur sometime in late June if all goes well. Tennis courts are open. Playgrounds have not been closed but caution should be used as they are not sanitized by the Village and social distancing should be practiced.
-
The following events have been postponed until 2021:
-
Silver Lake Triathlon
-
Sea Serpent Softball Tournament
-
Tour de Perry
-
Taste of Summer
-
Fisherman's Derby at the Park
-
New York State Puppet Festival
-
-
Other activities are still pending determination but have plans to move forward at this time:
-
Perry's Farmers Market - Still scheduled to start in June
-
Chalk Art Festival - Rescheduled to August 15th with no vendors or food trucks. Concentration on art event.
-
Shake on the Lake
-
The Village will work to update this list as more information becomes available. Until then, please continue to be safe, practice social distancing, and call us if you have any questions.
